Voices From the Room

MC

Margaret C.

British expat, Bangkok

"I had been putting this off for nearly four years. The Peace of Mind workshop felt like sitting down with a thoughtful friend rather than attending a course. I left with an actual folder — labelled, ordered, and ready. That felt enormous."

"My wife and I attended the Document Inventory session together. The facilitator was patient — we had a lot of papers in Thai and English mixed together. By the end we had a list that actually made sense to both of us. We have referred several friends since."

Irish expat, Bangkok

"I joined the Reflection Membership after losing my father unexpectedly while living abroad. The community aspect is genuinely warm — people are at different stages but the conversations feel real. It has helped me process things at a pace I can manage."

German expat, Bangkok

"I came in a bit sceptical — I wondered if it would be a sales pitch for some kind of financial service. It was not. The facilitators were very clear about the scope from the beginning and stuck to it. I appreciated that enormously."

"The conversation cards they give you are small but surprisingly useful. My mother and I had a conversation we had been circling around for two years. Estavia did not tell us what to say — it just gave us a quiet opening, which was exactly what we needed."

Australian expat, Bangkok

"Retired here six years ago. Kept meaning to sort things out. Attended a workshop in April and found it surprisingly enjoyable — which I had not expected. Small group, relaxed pace, very capable facilitator. It ticked several boxes I did not know I had."

Participant Journeys

A Closer Look at the Experience

These anonymised accounts reflect the kind of experience participants describe after attending Estavia sessions. Details have been generalised to protect privacy.

Challenge

A long-term Bangkok resident had papers in three languages spread across two countries. Finding anything at short notice felt close to impossible — and conversations with family about the situation had never quite happened.

Session

Attended the Document Inventory Garden Session with their adult daughter. Using Estavia's layered cataloguing approach, they worked through documents over a half-day, producing a bilingual reference list both of them could navigate.

Outcome

Left with a completed inventory, a list of three qualified professionals to consult, and — by their own account — a much lighter feeling about the state of things. Their words: "It was overdue. But not as hard as I thought."

Challenge

A recently widowed individual found themselves without a clear picture of where important papers were kept. Grief made the prospect of sorting through everything feel overwhelming — and they did not know where to begin.

Session

Joined the Reflection Membership over several months, attending monthly sessions at a pace that felt manageable. The community provided peer support while facilitators signposted to relevant professionals and official Thai government bodies.

Outcome

Over the course of the membership year, they gradually worked through their own situation with appropriate professional help. They described the Estavia sessions as "a place to land between the harder conversations" — steady, unpressured, genuinely kind.
